Editors: I read with great interest Lewis Coser’s article “The Hungarian Revolution Revisited,” [Summer, 1963], in which he wrote (referring to the beginning of the revolutionary movement in Budapest in October, 1956): “Nobody in the West, certainly, had any inkling of the events to come.”
