May I as a British Socialist pay tribute to the really fine magazine that you publish in DISSENT? I have now read the first four editions, covering the first year of publication, almost from cover to cover. It provides for the critical socialist what is found hardly anywhere else today–certainly there is no British publication at the present time which provide such important material for the thinking socialist. The existence of a labor Party of course leads to a certain theoretical inertia, which the present tragic weakness of the American left naturally does not permit.
