This magazine was begun in the hope that it would survive at least a year. It has lasted ten. And it is going stronger than ever.
Our paid circulation is at the highest point since we began; our influence, so far as we can judge, is also; and so is our morale. The editorial board functions with good spirit and sharp criticism. Even —but don’t make too much of it—our finances are a trifle better than in the past: they are merely critical.
For a little magazine this is notable; for a little magazine of socialist persuasion it is remarkable; for a little magazine of socialist persuasion in the 1950s and 1960s it is phenomenal. We are happy and, for just a moment, permit ourselves some pride. We thank those writers wh...
