Announcing Dissent ’s New Co-Editor: Timothy Shenk

Michelle ChenTimothy Shenk received his PhD in history from Columbia University in 2016 and is a Fellow at New America. His first book, Maurice Dobb: Political Economist, was published with Palgrave Macmillan in 2013. He is currently at work on two books. Inventing the American Economy, an intellectual biography of the American economy, is under contract with Princeton University Press. Democracy’s Revenge: The People, The Powerful, and the American Political Tradition, a history of attempts to represent and restrain the will of the people in the United States from the writing of the Constitution to the presidency of Donald Trump, is under contract with Farrar, Straus & Giroux. His writings have appeared in the Nation, the New Republic, the Guardian, the London Review of Books, and the Times Literary Supplement, as well as Dissent, where he served as co–book review editor from 2016 until now.
