In the Summer 1978 issue Harry Boyte (“Beyond Liberalism: Toward a Living Democracy”) wrote of the “antidemocratic assumptions” and “authoritarian traits” of liberalism. Would he document those statements from the writings of authentic liberals like John Stuart Mill, Bertrand Russell, John Dewey, Morris R. Cohen, R. M. Maclver, and Isaiah Berlin?
