I had a lecture to give one night at Brandeis when Irving was teaching there. The lecture must have been long and the questions and the reception after the questions even longer. By the time all this was over and Irving was waiting to show me my room for the night, there were hardly any lights on the campus. We had to grope our way in near darkness.
